PhD Studentship in Machine Learning: Decision-Focused Learning, Model Multiplicity and Causal Recourse in Financial Services

A fully funded PhD position at Trinity College Dublin as part of the Central Bank of Ireland PhD Programme in AI & Data Science, starting September 2026. The project focuses on decision-focused learning, model multiplicity, and causal recourse applications in financial services, supervised by Dr. Mimi Zhang and co-supervisors with support from Prof. Alessandra Mileo and Dr. Joshua Tobin. The programme provides a tax-free stipend of €25,000 per annum, equipment budget, conference travel budget, and other benefits. This position combines cutting-edge machine learning research with practical applications in the financial sector.
