About this scholarship
The MEXT Japanese Government Scholarship funds undergraduate, master's, PhD and research study in Japan. It is fully funded, covering full university tuition, a monthly living stipend, and round-trip airfare to Japan, and undergraduate awards include preparatory Japanese language training.
Eligibility
Open to nationals of countries with diplomatic relations with Japan; applicants holding Japanese nationality are not eligible. Undergraduate applicants are usually aged 17 to 24 with 12 years of schooling, while master's and PhD applicants are generally under 35 and hold a relevant degree (16 to 18 years of education). Embassy-track applicants are screened and interviewed by the Japanese embassy in their country.
